A prominent cryptocurrency project known as the Fantom Foundation has just named a new “Vice President of Memes”.
On Thursday, Andre Cronje posted a message on LinkedIn, where he announced that he was joining the Fantom Foundation as the new Vice President of Memes. He had previously served as the Chair of the Technology Council and a technical advisor for the company.
Apart from working for Fantom, Cronje also founded Yearn Finance, a DeFi project for Ethereum. According to his LinkedIn bio, he was a freelance DeFi architect for the platform from January 2020 to February 2022.
He has left and returned to the blockchain industry multiple times in the past. In March 2020, he announced that he was quitting the industry due to the toxic environment, but he eventually returned. His latest departure was also noted in March this year, when he announced that he was leaving DeFi and crypto.
During his time with Fantom, he praised the team for their work and said that they were on the right technological path. He also noted that he had no doubts that the company would continue to succeed.
Cronje did not yet provide details about his new role at Fantom.
The community was elated by the news that Cronje was returning to Fantom. Many of the comments that he posted on his LinkedIn page reflected this sentiment.
The native FTM token also reacted positively to the news. At press time, the cryptocurrency asset was trading at around 0,30USD, which is a significant increase from its previous trading price.
